Procedures of Drug Testing

Most people consider that they interpret what to expect when enduring in for a drug test. Those who have never had to take a drug test before may not realize the different types of drug testing available. While there are multiple types of drug testing, there are a few that stand out that determine whether or not someone will pass a drug test.

Urine Drug Tests

Urinalysis is typically the most ordinary form of drug tests. For those who are looking into normal occupations, such as those at a grocery store, a bank, or a hardware store, will have to undergo obligatory drug testing. Again, they will have to take a urinalysis to test for illicit substances under the eye of a hidden spy cameras.

Hair Drug Testing

A hair follicle drug test is a bit not as common as a urinalysis, but is growing in favor due to the lack of exposure to fluid and that hair testing is more responsible. To conduct a hair drug test, a hair sample is taken from the head–or the body if the person is bald–for a specimen, and is dissected by GS/MS protocols. Then, if any metabolites for drugs appear in the sample, the individual has passed the drug test. Often times, a personal reward is given to one’s self, such as an exotic car rental.

Saliva Drug Tests

Other drug test methods include saliva, or oral drug testing. Particular employers and drug test labs offer more than urinalysis, and oral drug testing is one of them. Oral drug tests are real cost effective, and non invasive, although they do demand handling of fluids. Unfortunately, they also have a high rate of false positives. Saliva drug tests can also be combined with urine drug tests or even a hair drug test as an alternate, or what is recognized as a B Sample.
